Stories from Haiti- Daily work

While in Haiti, we spent Tuesday through Friday working at AFTA Village. We would wake up and have breakfast at 7:30, have group prayer at 8:30 and leave for the village at 9. The first thing we did when we got to the village, was work with the kids at the school.  There were about 300 kids attending the Christian school, so we did assemblies for the different age groups. I taught for the 5th and 6th graders on Thursday. We did dramas, and played games, and then I talked about respect. I was impressed with how attentive the kids were, and how eager they were to participate. After the program, we divided into our groups, where I went to pray with the people in their tents. We worked in those groups until around 4:30 before going back to Rita's house.

While in Haiti, I got to use the awesome "missionary look." We had to wear skirts or dresses, but we also needed to wear good shoes as we were walking through the streets and the rubble. So while I was in Haiti, this was my style- a nice dress or skirt with my hiking boots!
