1st Day of School

Today was a GREAT first day!  I have 26 kids, 13 girls and 13 boys.  One of my students is a high functioning autistic kid, who is a complete joy.  He didn't come today, but he is on my list and his mom came to make sure I'd be his teacher.  Yesterday there were changes made, as more students enrolled than we expected.  Instead of planning and getting ready for the quarter, we decorated a new 2nd grade teacher's class, since the amount of kids called for 2 sections.  I ended up leaving school last night at 9:30, not having planned.  I was very nervous today, as I always am on the first day of school!  Even though they are kids, it is a little intimidating to have 26 people looking at you, waiting to hear what you have to say.  I am usually never at a loss for words, but my fear is that I will say everything I have to say, and have nothing left to talk to them about!  Today was just a half day, but tomorrow and Friday are full days.  We can't start using books and teaching and using new material until Monday, which means I have to think of activities to last 2 full days!
My new 5th graders
It's finally finished!
