World Cup Bound

History was made in Honduras on Wednesday night. It was our last chance to make it to the World Cup, and they did it! In order to classify Honduras needed to beat El Salvador, and the United States needed to tie or beat Costa Rica. Because the United States beat Honduras last Saturday, it truly was their last chance. Honduras has not classified for the World Cup since 1982. Honduras won 1-0, and in the last 30 seconds of overtime, the United States scored the goal to tie the game. People filled the streets and President Michiletti declared the next day a national holiday and so we had yesterday off. He said that the day had been filled with stress because of the game and that we should celebrate all night and rest on Thursday. There is great unity in Honduras now.
