1st day of school

Today was a GREAT first day of school. I am very pleased with who is in my class, I know it's going to be a challenge- but a really great year. I do not have a single of my students from last year's 5th grade class. I thought I might have a few because I moved up with the grade, but there was such a fight to have me as a teacher, that the rule became that no one who had me last year could have me again this year. I was shocked, and honored that parents were demanding that their child be placed with me, even going to the director's house to talk with her!! Thank you God and Texas A&M for helping me be a great teacher!! The good thing about not having students from last year is that I read the same books, and do many of the same activities. I was nervous that if I had the same class as before, that I would have to pull out new tricks! I have 23 in my class, and I have more boys than girls. Today was only a half days, just going over rules and classroom procedures. The whole school was pretty mellow today, but I'm sure we'll see who they really are as the year progresses!
